registering a car in Eire

Post by OFuk » Mon Jan 04, 2010 12:47 pm

Hi, just a quick question.....what's involved in reregistering a car on English plates in Eire? Is it a long, drawn out process? Does the car have to be presented for some kind of test/examination etc?
Thanks,
Paul

others will know more, but you need to pay VRT on it. this is based, on either its value or its emmisions. it can be quite high depending on the vehicle. a commercial vehicle on the other hand only pays 50 yoyo's VRT (and 255 per year tax)

private vehicles have to pass the NCT (national car test) every two years
commercial vehicles go through a DOE every year (ish) (1.75). its easier to pass.

google VRT Ireland and youll get loads of info.
