Yep, that's a good way of describing it. Also a very good reason for not investigating what's under them! It's kinda like the plastic sill covers common on a lot of cars...if it's got a current MOT you don't really dare look!

That Mercedes looks mint, GB! Bet you're glad all over.

Today I mostly: Received a phone call from the mechanic, he said the Bronco will be up and running next Monday afternoon. It's been 7 months as a damn pedestrian already...

Spent most of the day trying to get a 6hp Evinrude fisherman outboard going and to keep it going. Bloomin thing!

Its not me. Its a lad at work. He has been struggling to find the spare part even tried the likes of parts gateway and no joy. I was passing by the scrap yard on the way to get some axle oil and they had one in. Two cars high so had to climb up :-)

While in the scrap yard I noticed they had a transit on the ramps with a custom made subframe. It turns out they are putting a 4L supercharged Jag engine into it.

Pumas are nice driving cars. Ride's quite firm as a passenger, but you really don't notice when driving. Shame they're getting so scarce now. Given their age, likely quite a heavy casualty of the scrappage scheme. Xantias too - they were everywhere one day, but have virtually disappeared now. Yes, you had to replace the suspension spheres every 60K miles...but it took about 20 minutes to do once you'd got the hang of it.

Today I mostly:

1. Went to adjust the valve clearances on the 306 (it's been doing a good impression of a 1.1 Fiesta for months now in audio terms!) and discovered after cleaning everything up and removing the rocker cover, that my feeler gauges have disappeared. So I put everything back together and put that on the to-do list for another time shortly.

2. Discovered that the van has developed a sticky tappet on the drivers side cylinder bank - will let it run longer tomorrow (it was only started up to let me move it to get stuff out the boot today as it was running on fumes - have put more fuel in now though) and see if it sorts itself out. To be honest, what it needs more than anything I think is a damn good run! ...Unfortunately lack of current MOT prevents this.

3. Maintained my unbeaten pool playing status from last week - even though my father did succeed in getting me in quite an evil snooker at one point. Currently I'm up nine frames to nill from last weekend...we'll see how long this lasts!

Suggestions on how you'd have got out of this are welcome...You cannot get through to the left hand side of the table as there's another yellow just out of the frame blocking that route...

Suffice to say, he got himself two shots out of that one!

A bit of side and try and come off the cushion just above the jaw of the pocket and go between the to yellows?
